Opt-out policy

How to stop us contacting you, how to have what we hold about you deleted, what we are obliged to keep anyway, and how long each takes.

The short version

Telephone (415) 543-2100 or email [email protected] and say you want to be removed. No form to find, no account to log into, no unsubscribe link buried in a footer, no reason required. We confirm it on the call or by reply.

What you can ask for

Stop contacting me. We stop. In practice there is very little to stop: we run no mailing list, send no newsletter, and nobody is added to anything for telephoning to ask what an addition costs.

Tell me what you hold. We will tell you what is on file against your name or your address, and send it to you.

Correct something. A misspelled name, an old telephone number, a property you have sold. Corrected on the call.

Delete what you hold. We delete what we are free to delete, and say plainly what we are not.

What we cannot delete, and why

Where we have actually carried out work for you, that work leaves records we are required to keep: the contract and change orders, permit and inspection records, drawings, site photography, subcontractor and supplier documents, invoices and payment records. Accounting and tax rules require some. California construction liability and warranty periods require others, and those run for years.

This is not us being obstructive, and it is worth saying why it is in your interest. If a question ever arises about whether work on your building was permitted, inspected and built as drawn, those records are the thing that answers it — frequently years later, and frequently when you are selling. A builder who offered to delete them would be offering to destroy the evidence that protects you.

What we can do, and will, is remove you from any contact use of those details, so the records sit in the project file and nowhere else until their retention period expires.

Photographs of your building

If we hold site photography from your project and you would rather we did not, say so and we will delete everything not required as a construction record. The records we keep for liability purposes — photographs of framing and structure before it was covered, for instance — we have to retain, and those are exactly the ones you would want kept.

We do not publish project photography at all, so there is nothing to take down.

How long it takes

Contact removal takes effect immediately on the call.

A request to see, correct or delete what we hold is answered within thirty days, and usually a great deal sooner.

Advertising you may have seen

This site currently loads no advertising or analytics tag at all, so there is nothing on it to opt out of. If we later run paid search advertising, the Microsoft Advertising UET tag described in the cookie policy would be set by Microsoft rather than by us, and would be refused through Microsoft and through your browser.

Where to send it

Telephone (415) 543-2100, Mon–Fri 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PT. Email [email protected]. Or write to Trico Construction, LLC, 981 Howard St, San Francisco, CA 94103. A letter is answered the same way a call is.

Ask before you sign, not after

Anything on this page that is unclear, or anything you need in a different form — a certificate of insurance naming you and your property, our licence details, a subcontractor list, or a sample contract to read before you commit to anything — is a telephone call away, and we would much rather you asked.
